Using Blabbelon with Mac OS X Snow Leopard Safari

Folks we are aware that many of you may have upgraded to Apple’s new operating system Snow Leopard. While there are many great things 64-bit will deliver, we need to catch up a bit by providing for compatibility in Blabbelon. The particular issue relates to 64-bit Safari, as those users will not be able to use the current voice codec. There is an easy solution which is to use Firefox. For those of you who are die-hard Safari fans, you can open Safari in 32-bit mode.

Simply click on the Safari icon in your Finder > Applications menu, then under the Finder menu go to File > Get Info. Opening the Info pane of Safari will allow you to click a box to specify 32-bit. Then just restart your browser and things will work just fine. To see what we mean, take a look at the illustration.

New Menu Style

September 25, 2009

Well many of you told us that hover menus felt a little fluttery and distracting. So we’ve introduced a new menu system that is very elegant and super intuitive. Menus pop up with discreet mouse-clicks and sit on top of a transparent backdrop. Hope you all like it!

Edit Profile

September 23, 2009

A user recently wrote us to point out that some of our Edit Profile features were still a bit buggy. Indeed, we thank you for the BugUs, and we’re presently creating a whole new look and feel to the Edit Profile pages. What’s more, the alias system is currently being beefed up. Right now, the system automatically takes everything to the left of your email “@” symbol and makes that your alias. Through the Edit Profile pages, you’ll soon be able to make an alias even more private by typing your own alias (that you can edit later) and applying it to the Blabs you participate in. Some more upcoming updates we’re working on in Edit Profile:

  • New buttons to toggle individual fields as public or private
  • Ability to pick your avatar
  • Ability to specify desired method of delivery for Blab invites: either in-system only or plus email notification
  • Bug fixes around making sure changes stick, and simplifying entry choices wherever possible with menus

Again, we appreciate the great support of our fans during this beta period!

Known Behavior – Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer

September 23, 2009

Thanks to some very astute users this week we identified an interesting behavior about Microsoft Internet Explorer that we should let our community know about. If you log into Blabbelon using IE, then decide to go do something else while talking on Blabbelon, the best way is to use ALT + TAB. If, by any chance, the user minimizes the IE window with Blabbelon running, it puts things to sleep. Whilst you can still hear people talking, your push to talk key wont react. Just a heads up for those IE users.
